
Hyunsu Yoon
Flute
Hyunsu Yoon is a flute player currently working on the DMA program at the University of North Texas. He has travelled and lived in many countries where he enjoys having experienced a wide range of cultures, academic curricula, and music. Hyunsu has performed on various stages in the US and internationally. He was a finalist in a number of competitions including the Young Texas Artist competition, Rosen-Schaffel Competition, UNCSA Fall Concerti Competition, Rafa Artist Competition, Raleigh Symphony Orchestra competition, SEMFA Young Artist Competition, and the Osaka International competition. Hyunsu has chosen music theory for his related-field in his DMA studies. He approaches music theory with special emphasis on flute pedagogy. Hyunsu currently works with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy at University of North Texas. His previous teachers are Amy Porter, Erika Boysen, Tadeu Coelho and Hiroshi Matsushima.

Jonathan Luna
Oboe
Jonathan Luna is a DFW based oboist/educator starting his first year teaching oboe in FISD. Mr. Luna holds two degrees in Oboe performance from Texas A&M University-Commerce. While at TAMUC, Mr. Luna performed with the Symphonic band and Wind Ensemble as Principal
Oboe/English Horn. Mr. Luna was a student of Dr. Natasha Merchant. Mr. Luna brings a wealth of knowledge about the oboe and English horn to FISD.

Ross Duncan
Bassoon
Dr. Ross Duncan is a distinguished professional bassoonist and educator based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. His musical journey has taken him across the United States and Canada, where he has had the pleasure of performing with various orchestras and chamber groups. Notable among these are the Sheboygan Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, Scarborough Philharmonic, Chinese Artist Society of Toronto, and the Perrysburg Symphony. Ross's dedication to his craft is evident in his academic achievements. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) and Master of Music (M.M.) from the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he was honored with the prestigious Paul Collins Fellowship
for his doctoral studies and a graduate assistantship for his masters degree. Additionally, he earned an Artist Diploma from The Glenn Gould School in Toronto, Canada. His academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Arts in German from Bowling Green State University. Throughout his musical education, Dr. Duncan has been guided by renowned mentors, including Marc Vallon, Fraser Jackson, and Dr. Nathaniel Zeisler.

Crissie Axelrod
Clarinet
Crissie Axelrod grew up in the DFW metroplex and started playing clarinet in the 6th grade. I went to school at Sam Houston State University, double majoring in Clarinet Performance and Music Education. In Fall of 2002 I became an Assistant Band Director at Dean Middle School in Cy-Fair ISD and stayed there for 11 years. I then moved on to be an Elementary Music teacher at Horne Elementary in Cy-Fair ISD. My husband, our two youngest children and I moved to Forney in the Fall of 2017 where I have been teaching private clarinet lessons at Forney HS, Warren MS and Rhea IS ever since.

Alex Strader
Clarinet
Performing and teaching music of the East and West on sheng and clarinet respectively, Alexander Strader enjoys a diverse freelance career in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. With the Huo Feng Trio, he enlightens and energizes audiences who are curious about traditional Chinese music. He has received both his bachelor's and master's in Clarinet Performance from the University of North Texas.

Tyler Moore
Trumpet
Tyler Moore is a native to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He received his undergraduate degree at Baylor University with Wiff Rudd, Mark Schubert, and Alex Parker, as well as a Master's of Music from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music under the tutelage of Craig Morris. Mr. Moore was a member of the trumpet ensembles from Baylor that competed at the National Trumpet Competition and won 1st prize in 2017, 2nd prize in 2018, then 1st prize again in 2019. Additionally, during his time at Baylor he had the joyous experience of being trumpet soloist for J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 2”. As a soloist, he was named 'honorable mention' for the 2019 Yamaha Young Performing Artist competition, a finalist for the 2019 International Trumpet Guild's Mock Wind Band and Solo Competitions, and was a 2020 finalist for the Ictus International Trumpet Competition. As a professional musician, Mr. Moore recently won the Principal Trumpet position with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and performs in the DFW metroplex with Plano, Irving, Richardson, and Fort Worth symphonies. He also recently performed as an extra musician with the Cincinnati Symphony Opera. As a teacher, his high school and middle school students placed in the top All-Region ensembles, as well as some advancing to the Area competition at the high school level. In his free time, Mr. Moore enjoys playing pickleball with his fiancée, Ms. Sala, and hanging out with their dogs.

Tim Stevens
French Horn
Tim is an active performer and educator throughout North Texas. He holds positions with the Dallas Winds (formerly the Dallas Wind Symphony), The Dallas Pops, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, and the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra and teaches a studio of Horn players from ages 10-adult.
In his 28th year of teaching, Tim's students have consistently earned honors including selection to the All-State, Area and Region Bands, Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago and New World Symphony. Tim has contributed to a combined 18 Texas State Championships in Marching, Concert and Solo & Ensemble. In the summers he teaches Horn for the "Blast of Brass" Summer Music Conference. Tim has many students pursuing successful professional careers in music.
As a member of the Dallas Wind Symphony, Tim has performed on 19 Reference Recordings Compact Discs with Conductors Howard Dunn, Frederick Fennell, Austin Wintory and Jerry Junkin including the 1998 Grammy Nominated "Holidays and Epiphanies."
Mr. Stevens has also performed with the Dallas Opera Orchestra, New Mexico Symphony, Wichita Falls Symphony, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony and the Lewisville Lake Symphony.
As a freelance musician he has performed in the Bands and Orchestras of many popular performers such as Andrea Bocelli, Kenny G, Celtic Fire, The Three Irish Tenors, Schonberg and Boublil: Hear the People Sing World Tour, Diana Ross, The Legend of Zelda, Bette Midler, Brian Wilson, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandy Patty, The Spinners, The 5th Dimension, Alabama, The Oak Ridge Boys, and The Moody Blues.
Tim lives in Rockwall, Texas with his wife, Chrystal, their Black Lab Bandit and their three cats Mason, Matilda and Marvin.

Joey Lopez
Trombone
Joey Lopez graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance. While at UNT, Joey played with the 3 O’ Clock Lab Band, the Latin Jazz Band, The U-Tubes, and the Zebras. An active freelancer in the DFW area, Joey has made appearances with various groups such as The Bishop Avenue Hot 6 and Baba Yaga Orkestar. Joey currently resides in Dallas and in his free time likes to watch movies and listen to music.

Cody Hume
Euphonium/Tuba
Originally from Rowlett, Texas, Mr. Hume is a graduate of Sachse High School. At SHS, he served as Band President and Euphonium Section Leader. He performed in the Wind Ensemble on euphonium and the Jazz Band on trombone.
Mr. Hume attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. During his time there he studied euphonium under Dr. Jeff Baker, and performed in the Wind Ensemble under Mr. Phil Clements and in The "Pride" of the Court Basketball Band under Dr. Ryan Yahl. Mr. Hume also served as section leader for The "Pride" Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Allan Goodwin.
Mr. Hume was also granted the opportunity to march with the world class Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corp in 2019.
In his free time, Mr. Hume enjoys cooking and playing video games with friends.

Zachery Lewis
Percussion
Zachery Lewis is a percussion instructor and private lesson teacher in Forney ISD. A recent graduate of TCU under the direction of Dr. Brian A. West, Mr. Lewis has performed in various prestigious ensembles including the TCU Percussion Orchestra, the TCU Wind Ensemble, the TCU Symphony Orchestra, the TCU Horned Frog Marching Band and the TCU Steel Band.

As an alumni of Forney ISD, Mr. Lewis enjoys getting to share his musical knowledge and skills with his students across the district. In his free time, Mr. Lewis enjoys embroidering, crocheting, and learning new music.
